Social Support and Mental Health during the COVID19-pandemic among Cancer Survivors: An Analysis of the COVID Impact Survey

Abstract Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the mental health of adults in United States (U.S.) due to recommended preventive behaviors such as social distancing. Our objective was evaluate symptoms and determinants among cancer survivors during U.S. Methods: We used nationally-representative data 10,760 from Impact Survey. defined a self-reported diagnosis (n = 854, 7.6%). estimated association using multinomial logistic regression calculated adjusted odds ratios (aOR) 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). experiencing at least one symptom 3–7 times last seven days Poisson models prevalence (aPR) CI. Results: Most were over age 60 (65%), NH-White (74%), female (52%), married or living with partner (57%). Among who spoke their neighbors basically every day prior start pandemic, 62% continued this behavior, 34% reported speak only few week month. survivors, 16% felt depressed, 14% lonely, 13% hopeless about future days.
